Church Staff
Meet our Staff

 Reverend David Combs - Pastor

My name is David Combs. I am the pastor of two United Methodist Churches New Castle UMC and Eminence UMC. Both churches are located in Henry County. I attended Eastern Kentucky University in 1988 and 90. I was the one and only Religion Major at EKU at that time. I transferred to Kentucky Christian College in 1990 and I graduated in 1994 with a duel degree in Christian ministries and Bible. I went on to attend Asbury Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 1998.
I began my ministry as a youth minister in Russell Kentucky in 1990. In 1991 I married Becky Brown and pastored the Goebel United Methodist Church. Since then I have pastored 11 Churches in 7 appointments. I am in my 22nd year of ministry and I am truly blessed to have served some great churches in such wonderful communities all across the state of Kentucky.
By my side all of these years has been my partner in ministry Becky. We now have five Children Erica, Andrew, Emily, Paul, and Caleb. We believe that children are a gift from God and our job is to love them, Educate them and disciple them in the Lord. We are currently homeschooling four of our children; Andrew, Emily, Paul and Caleb. Caleb is learning his abc’s and 123’s.
Along the way I have picked up some great tools for ministry. Tools like Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace”, Dr. James Dobson’s parenting class “Essentials of Discipline”, Focus on the Family’s “The Truth Project” and Dr. D James Kennedy’s “Evangelism Explosion”. Each one of these classes teaches us the biblical principles on how to live our lives, how to handle our money and our children. They teach us how to think critically about what we believe and how to communicate that belief to others.
I am grateful for the pastors who have gone before me, who have helped to equip me for the ministry. I am grateful for the churches who have walked with me in this journey, learning as I learn. And I am most thankful for the churches who have been patient with my many mistakes.
